Moisturize. First, moisturize your skin to minimize cuts, nicks, and irritation while shaving. We recommend shaving right after or even in the shower. Moisturizing softens the hairs so the razor glides more easily. Use a facial scrub or wash your face to remove oil, dirt, and dead skin and prepare your skin for a comfortable shave
Apply shaving cream. Apply a shaving gel or foam. Lather up and spread all over your skin to moisturize the hairs and to improve razor glide and protect against irritation
Check for dull blades. Check the lubrication strips, if they look faded or worn, or if the blades feel dull during shaving, it may be time for a new razor blade
Shave with light, gentle strokes. Use light, gentle strokes, let your razor do the work - Gillette Skinguard, ProGlide and ProShield are available with a pivoting “Flexball” shaving head that adapts to your face
Rinse your blades often. Remember not to shave without shaving gel/cream and do not shave the same area repeatedly, as this can cause irritation. Hitting the razor against the sink can damage the precision-mounted blades and seriously damage the razor
Shave both with and against the hair. With or against the hair? The answer is both. Facial hair grows in many directions, you will shave both with and against the hair at different times during your shave. Shave in the direction that feels best. Rehydrate after shaving. Wash your face with cold water and pat it dry. Rub in a moisturizing aftershave lotion so that your skin feels soft and comfortable.
